How long would it take to get a PhD in psychology?

say you already have a bachelors in criminal justice and a masters in information science, about how long would it take to get a phd in psychology? i'm thinking i would be able to transfer at least 35-45 semester hours from the two degrees i already got. i just don't know if psychology requires a masters then phd type of degree course plan. i heard that i could go straight from a bachelors in psychology to a doctoral program without going through a masters, is this true? i'm not really sure at the time exactly what type of psychologist i would like to be. i do know i would prefer not to ever prescribe medications, so i would like to be more of a therapist and a counselor. thanks.
